The Southeastern Youth Fair Executive Board is very proud to have completed another successful Fair. We are thankful to all of the volunteers, committee members, and community supporters who make the SEYF the tremendous success that it is.

The Executive Board always welcomes suggestions and feedback on how to improve each year. We have heard the concerns regarding our rules on jackpot shows. While the Board maintains its current rules, we have heard the request to allow exhibitors more opportunities to gain more experience and confidence when showing an animal. We are strongly considering different ways to create more learning opportunities for our SEYF exhibitors in the coming year.  As in years past, all SEYF exhibitors are allowed to jackpot their animals before weigh-in or tagging if they so choose. Steers and hogs are not allowed to jackpot after their start date as a SEYF project (weigh-in/tagging).

We have and will always make decisions on our market show rules with our guiding principles in mind. Those principles include:

*a focus on maintaining a production show

*fostering a unique experience for a child to act as a producer, to market their animal from beginning to end

*protecting that project as best we can; for the buyer’s sake with a high-quality product, for the child’s sake in protecting their initial investment, and with a goal for the highest possible return for the child

*creating educational experiences for Marion County youth
